Do you suspect you might be standing in the way of your own success?
The fact you saw this title and were drawn to read even this far suggests you might be suspecting that.
But don’t worry, we’ve all been there. I know the signs to look for because I’ve seen them all in myself at one point or another.
I want you to be successful. Helping women to achieve their vision of success on their terms is my calling in life, my passion. That’s why I’m here writing this for you now.
I know what it can be like to feel like you want to be moving towards your vision of success, but instead feel stuck or overwhelmed, or like nothing you are doing is working. Perhaps you’ve even considered giving up.
But maybe, like me, you made a vow to make this work.
You saw the possibility: making money on YOUR terms, working the hours YOU want to work, being present for your family in the way that is important to YOU.
That’s why, if any of these points resonate with you, I want you to know that you can take action. You can decide to stop playing small. Because letting go of the fears and limiting beliefs that are standing between you and success is so empowering and liberating.
Building a business and raising a family at the same time CAN be easy and fun. But you have to get out of your own bloody way first!
Let’s get to it.
1. You feel awkward about money
If you feel awkward about money, have negative beliefs about money or your deservedness or worthiness around receiving it, then this WILL show up in your business.
Perhaps you aren’t charging enough (I see this one ALL THE TIME).
Perhaps you aren’t asking for the sale often enough – i.e. emails/social media posts/blog posts/video content with a clear and direct sales related call to action.
Perhaps you loathe sales calls, hurrying off at the end as soon as an objection is raised.
If any of these ring true for you, then underneath it is your relationship with money.
You need to make friends with money. You need to let go of all your limiting beliefs and mindset blocks around money. Otherwise, they will continue to haunt you and keep you from making the money you truly deserve.
2. You’re a busy fool
I am not judging. Goodness knows I have been there many a time. Running around like a headless chicken or like your hair’s on fire, feeling like you’re doing #allthethings and then ending the day with that sinking feeling that you didn’t achieve much at all and there is still So. Much. To. Do.
Or maybe you’re busy consuming all the free content the internet – and in particular the Facebook algorithm – can offer. If I just watch this webinar…. If I just download this ebook… THEN I will know the thing. The key! The key to creating success in my business.
I am sorry to tell you this: but you are unlikely to find the key at the end of a webinar.
Slow down. Get some perspective. Get someone to help you with your priorities. Focus on activities which will genuinely move the needle on your business. Get organised.
Learn to tune into your inner guidance. You so often have the answers you have been searching for – that key! – right inside of you. But running around like a lunatic will not help you tap into them.
Slow down, connect with your inner guidance/ inspiration/creativity and things will get so much easier.
3. You’re letting fear drive the bus
I bet that right now, there is something you want to do or feel you need to do in your business. It is something that your gut is telling you will make a difference. It could be the thing that will help move you closer to your vision of success.
But you’re afraid.
So you procrastinate.
You busy yourself with a myriad of other things (see point 2 above!).
You delay, put off, tell yourself it isn’t really essential.
But you’re letting fear take charge. You’re letting fear make the decisions. No good ever really comes of that.
Time to look fear in the eyes. Admit to and own the reasons why you are afraid. Then ask yourself if there is any way you can get help or support to do the thing – whatever the thing is. Start taking steps – small if you must – towards the thing. Every day.
Soon you will have done it.
Soon you will see it wasn’t so scary after all.
Soon you will just be kicking yourself that you didn’t do it sooner.
Soon you will be enjoying the fruits of your labour.
4. You’re believing your own lies
We tell ourselves lies all the time. We all do it.
We have these limiting beliefs, often based on zero facts or evidence. Or based on someone else’s opinion/experience/belief. Or based on this one time that something happened.
Time to start letting those go.
Here’s one I hear all the time – one I used to believe – that to be successful you had to sacrifice. Success comes at a cost.
Maybe you’ve told yourself some stories about what success would mean for you. Maybe you believe it would negatively impact your health. Or that you would have to spend so much time on your business that you’d never see your kids. Or that to make a lot of money would make you a bad person.
Lies, lies, lies.
See these for what they are: limiting beliefs. They are limiting the action you are taking. Limiting what you believe is possible for you.
Know this: you can achieve anything you want on your terms. Without sacrifice, without overwhelm.
But you have to believe it first. Work on that belief and the rest will follow.
5. You’re treating your business like a hobby
Have you been treating your business like a hobby? Well, then it isn’t any surprise you haven’t achieved your vision of success yet, right?
Maybe you are afraid of success (totally been there!).
Maybe you have been believing your stories and lies (see 4 above!)
Whatever the reason, if you’ve been taking the DIY approach to the extreme with your business if you are afraid to invest in your business…
Then, my love, you are afraid to invest in yourself.
Start working on your self-belief and it will be easier to stop treating your business like a hobby.
Would you expect to start a bricks-and-mortar business with zero investment? Well, then why do you think you can do the same with an online business?
I’m not going to tell you to go on a wild spending spree, but please acknowledge that there ARE things you will have to pay for. Often before you are making the money to “justify” the spending. Without investing in the right support/advice/expertise/legal protection/technology that your business requires, you are holding yourself back.
You are keeping your business small.
6. You’re not showing up for yourself
Do you know the one thing that underpins ALL of the 5 signs above?
Work on your mindset, every single day as a priority and guess what? All of the above 5 signs will melt away. Success will come easily. Business will be fun.
You might not want to believe it can be that simple.
But it is.
Prioritising your mindset means prioritising you. I know that can be hard. Especially when you think there are 1001 activities that are URGENT and IMPORTANT. It can seem indulgent, crazy even, to be spending any time working on your mindset before doing any other business-related activities. EVEN MORE SO when you only have a small window of child-free time that day to work.
But I can absolutely – categorically – promise you that if you do, if you prioritise the mindset work, every day. If you show up for yourself in that way every day. Everything else will fall into place.
I am speaking not just from personal experience but from the results I have witnessed with my private coaching clients and peers.
Don’t believe me? Try it every day for a week and see the difference.
Spend half an hour each day before you do ANY work on your business, saying positive affirmations or meditating or journalling – anything that you can do to get yourself into a success mindset. Anything you can do to start creating new, more empowering beliefs for yourself and to start letting go of the things holding you back. Anything that uplifts and inspires you.
THAT will be your key to stop playing small.
THAT will be how you get out of the way of your own success.
Then come thank me.
P.s. did you resonate with more of the points above then you’d like to admit? Don’t worry, my love, I’m here for you.
